Statement regarding the coop mode in the release version

To play a coop game you have to start a dedicated server with the tool provided together with your game. Pull in the campaign maps from C9L01 to C9L06, choose FFA and start the game. You can also add / remove bots accompanying you there.

We will add a more convenient ingame coop menu with the next update and also synchronize the particle effects and death animations which may cause at the moment some problems when fighting the monsters together.

You weren`t trolled. We`ll add an update resolving those issues very soon. And also a bullet-proof ingame menu.

Good to hear. I just wanted someone to let us know what is going on.

Also, the American Painkiller Black Edition from Steam is 1.60 and not 1.64. Anyone who bought the package deal from Steam has TWO non-working games at the moment.

Yeah sure what a coop mode...cant pass the first room (blocked by invisible walls), cant choose Difficulty, health re-spawning (Just in case if the first room was to hard to finish), ammos re-spawning (And dont say me these last 2 things are features cause obviously they aren't...) ect...

Oh and how weird it is...the coop mode can now be played at 16 players !... (Just in case if you didn't know the coop is supposed to be limited at 4)

So please stop talking bs, cause I'm not stupid enough to believe it...

So now that would be nice if you could tell us the truth...

You say "So you can for sure enjoy competitive MP online." while we aren't able to play anything related to mp...Sure that doesn't sounds like a troll...You are just saying bs...Thats completely different...

Ps:You don't want to ever use the term "bullet-proof" with anything...it's lame...

Coop aint the main problem for me. I wanna know if we steam users have been delt the wrong version of the game or if all these _major_ flaws ( the game aint working properly in any sense.. mp or sp) are really in the version that was released as the retail game. still multiplayer is completly not working since the game crash after just a couple of mins.

you guys have to be aware if these problems are due to a release of an improper version or if its the intended version... especially since all these problems and errors are to be found after just a few minutes of checking the game and could impossible have passed any sort of testing stage... so either you _knew_ you released a completly unplayable verssion or you _know_ that the steam version is incorrect just by hearing our reports from it. just be honest with us so we know whats up.

With the 1.64 update on Steam, now Steam users are asked for a cd-key for multiplayer.

Do you guys have any QA?

This is not coop and not what was advertised. The game manual itself states that coop is one of the multiplayer game modes from the multiplayer menu. In fact, the game manual talks of being able to host coop/multi with various options from the in-game multiplayer menu and makes no mention of starting a dedicated server with the tool.
It's obvious you had a plan for this part of the game but didn't finish it. You should have pushed the release back and finished the job. This does not look good at all and it's very disappointing.

Totally agree. Fix this and give us the game we have been waiting for.

I've just registered to say that you guys at JoWood did an awesome job with this game... no wait, the other way around, it sucks and i regret taking it and the support sucks too. You surely asked the developer, a not experienced team of modders to make this new Painkiller instead of calling the original team (just like happened with Overdose), but this time the game is even WORSE than Overdose. Bad level design, reused assets from all the previous games (only ONE new weapon???) and worse of everything: UNPLAYABLE MULTIPLAYER, the game crashes so often that makes trying to join a server a pain that you can't kill.

Last but not least Co-Op is not only "hidden", making a lot of people unaware of it, but also broken as the multiplayer is bugged as hell.

The game has currently almost no people playing it online because all of this problems, and the multiplayer "community" (few lonely souls or some parents of the developers) will stop playing in few weeks (days?)

This is probably one of the worst games JoWood has ever published

4 player Coop is misleading

My husband and I like to play cooperative games and always purchase 2 copies of our games when we find one that offers coop play. We finished resident evil 5 some time ago and recently finished borderlands so we were looking for another coop. I actually played the orginal painkiller and was delighted when I saw it had 4 player coop.

You can imagine my dismay when I paid for the 2 games and realized it was simply a multiplayer mode and had nothing to do with the game plot at all. I mean, it's simply CS style mapping and a free for all shoot fest. That's not the definition of coop, that's multiplayer.

I must say that I personally feel like I was swindled and wish that I could get my money back for the 2 games I purchased for the coop gameplay. I'm very disappointed, not only with Steam (who I have trusted and purchased all my games with), but with the marketers of this game who I feel have deliberatley advertised falsely.

I can't express my disappointment in words.
