Could we please not whine here? make another thread if you want to whine. We dont know exactly what the patch fixes, so please post what YOU have noticed with the patch regarding what has been fixed? Or if you have another mirror to add. It would be sad if this thread ends up like the previous 1.12 patch thread

sound

So there certainly are a lot more sounds now. I can hear snakes hissing, wind in the snowy regions, more birds, babbling brooks, and ocean sounds (around rivers though?)

What's missing still:
-No sound when I draw my sword. Maybe there isn't supposed to be, but it always seemed strange.
-Rain is silent.

Sounds like the waterfall are not fixed by the ambient sound fix, cause this is another problem which would need to exchange the whole world file. Doing this would take much time wo work on and a patch which has a size of about 1GB download. Therefor this can't be done right now (and I can't promise that there will be such a patch in future).

- NPCs don't die as quickly as before when fighting monsters. This helps party members to survive.
Im curious on this one.
Did they add more health, armor or (...)?

Since neither was the problem with npcs, problem was they couldnt fight back the wild life proper (attack/defend ect).

Either way, i gues a patch with some fixes is better then nothing at all.

Mate, you've got to be kiddin, PB doesn't know how to make a sound play in their game? PB doesn't know how to patch a big file without having to distribute the whole file again because of a small update?
Please make them check Amazon there's a lot of "for dummies" books that can help them.
I'm a real Gothic fan, but it's insane that after 3 months the game still has bugs so stupid to address and so clear to see that ones wonder if a test of the game was done before publishing it; the savegame crash bug was addressed in 1.09 but after the game crashed a lot even on a clean install high end PC (and it wasnt with the previous patch).
It's like buying milk and finding it acid, buying a car that every km blow up all the tires, buying a PC that reboots every time windows start up.....
Sooner or later laws will address that behaviour of yours, cause we are customers not stupid money-machines.

If take make it 1GB they are very bad developers. The world file is an archive, and if they can't replace one file in the archive, well then, I have no words.

Even if the whole world file was together it would be patchable by binary comparing the 2 files(old and new) and just adding the extra bits in those locations( Something NWN2 does, which makes the game expand by a few gigs when patching).

Actually either of these 2 would be pretty bad solutions, and if they programmed a proper engine, it would be possible just to add another file, and the engine would automatically recognize the replacement (like in oblivion).

Don't get me wrong, I love PB, and I'm not talking about them being bad developers, because they aren't; they're great, gothic is great, and I love it.

If it is patched, it will not be a gig file.

I must admit I agree with DuskDweller on this one. Also, I don't see a problem even if the patch is 1GB (it's almost impossible, there is no file in G3 that big, and it would mean replacing 1/3 of Gothic files just for sound fix - which is absurd). As I understand, they preffer not to fix the bugs rather than distributing a large file ?

You got it wrong. Gothic 3 would've been even worse if everyone gav it 10/10 and no one complained about the problems, do you think the devs would even care then? Ofc not. Fanboys are the reason some games / game series remains shitty in some aspects. Complaining and whining FTW, at least for us who want games to evolve and get even better.

You are both wrong ! The devs are the reason the game is not up to the expectations! And it seems that no matter how much we complain about problems, and no matter how many bad reviews G3 gets, the devs don't care (or don't seem to care)...

Finally the new patch.
Btw, why isn't there a mirror on the gothic3 official site?

I think PB's are kept in a cage, not allowed to have contact with their fans or the public...If not, they obviously don't care about their fans, as they don't listen to anything we say, they don't ever keep us up to date, and are only interested in money they make.

I'm officialy taking down PB as my favourite developer company, they held the first place long and proud over many years.

I'm happy to announce that Funcom is now my fav company.

G3 still a good game tho, I was just hoping for more of their support.
