When I try to enter the village of Tolip I crash to desktop every time. I am not really comfortable changing settings on my computer so I would need clear instructions on how to fix this. It seems like most computer games purchased seem to have a number of glitches anymore and something always needs to be adjusted.

I have also had the same problem.
*sigh*
Ah, tis indeed a lovely game...it's just utterly riddled with various bugs.

Anyway, while I could state my true feelings on the whole mess, it probably won't do many any good.
Hell, I could even give you specific information on my computer in the vain hope that it'll help, but seeing as how all of your help boils down to the same advice over and over again, I think my best bet would be to simply avoid your company logo from now on.
Oops. I seem to have said my true feelins on the matter after all.

Were you able to fix your problem and get the game to play without crashing at Tolip? If you were, how did you do it?

Nope. Every time I try to walk through the main gates it freezes.
With patch, without patch, with various versions of Direct X, using my GeForce 2 with and without the newest drivers, and not using my graphics card at all.
Re-installed, repaired, recycled.

Not your fault.

Hello!

Hm, it's very difficult to find out what's going on there. The village should run fine normally.

You may have only little space left on the swap partition of your hard drive? If this is not the problem, please give us a checklist for your pc as Plex described it in his post "Problem running Gorasul? Please read."

Oh...uh...I actually wasn't expecting any real help, which is why I've been so disgruntled.
Er...how would I check the swap partition space on my hard drive? To be honest, I don't even understand what that means.

To Check file/Virtual memory space on win98
left click on MY COMPUTER
right click on the drive GORASUL is installed on(c:,d: etc), Select Properties and left click. This should show the free space on the Drive.

now go to the Control Panel and click on the SYSTEM icon then select Performance, on the Performance screen Select Virtual Memory this will show your SWAP FILE configuration and setup

Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings

is the normal option. If your disk is nearly full this can cause problems with virtual memory(Swap Space) try to clean off old games/windows Temp files etc.

If your Virtual memory is on another disk make sure that disk has enough free space IE. I try to maintain at least 10-20% of the Virtual Memory free at all times as a rule of thumb if/when I can't I by a new Drive.

If you aren't using win98 then the above may or may not work.
a lot of the above assumes that you have probably left the system configured as it was setup when you bought there are lots of things you can do to improve system performance.

Hmmm...nope. I have it on "Let my computer control the settings" and have 2 gigs of space left.

Might as well tell you what I know.

Pentium III 450 MHz
96 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX 100/200 - Latest driver
YAMAHA DS - XG Direct Sound Driver
Direct X 8.1
Windows 95

The movies run slow and stutter. If I go into the monsters compendium the game usually freezes. The actual game runs fine until I walk through the gates of Tolip (the actual gates), where upon it always freezes.

Ain't_Worth_It,

I used to have all sorts of problems while running windows 95 in general. For gaming you may want to upgrade to Windows 98SE. I'm not saying it will fix your problems, but I don't believe Windows 95 is in the "Current" product list with Microsoft! Basically they stopped making updates and fixes for Windows 95 a year or so ago.

How big is your hard drive and how much available space do you have??

Since I originally posted the message I have been following the replys guite closely. I will be checking out my available memory to see if this helps. Hopefully this works. My system is:

Pentium III 667e CPU
AYX PII AGP 440BX SYSTEM BOARD
64MB SDRAM MEMORY
Voodoo 3 3DFX 16 MB VIDEO CARD
ACER 40X CD ROM

If anyone has more suggestions to try I would appreciate it. Thanks to all.

I forgot to mention I am running Windows 98.

Max of 8.47 GB space, with 3.54 GB left.

I know Win95 is old, but the only other version of Windows I have is 98, which I really dislike. And I don't want to buy the new Win-whatever because I've tried it and hate the new interface.

Do you mean Windows XP?? I don't like it very much either. The Windows 2000 Professional interface isn't much different from 95 or 98...! If you know someone with it maybe you should try their system out and see how you like it. If you have any questions about Windows 2000 Professional I can help ya no problem!
